Beginning at the Bonnie Kate Cafe and centering in downtown Elizabethon, the storytellers will tell both spooky and historical stories about the downtown district. Recommended for ages 10 and above. $12.00 per person. All veterans and seniors (55 and older): $10.00. Parties of 10 or more: $10.00 per person- cash, checks or money orders. A Walk In Their Boots: A Timeline of American Military History-Saturday, November 8, 2014 10 am - 4 pm Experience life on the front lines as an American military soldier and follow his footsteps through the earliest frontier days, the American Revolution, the War of 1812, America's Civil War, World War I, World War II and beyond. At 11 am you can watch a Revolutionary battle assault on the historic Fort Watauga. At 1 pm there will be a Civil War skirmish and at 3 pm we wrap up with a WWII American Airborne assault on a German paratrooper unit a la D-Day, 1944. Do not miss this opportunity to see period equipment and weapons in action! This event is free and open to the public.

The ETSU Special Education Department, in partnership with Social Inc., invites you to join us for our Fall Fun Festival! This is a free, all inclusive family event for people of all ages and ability levels. There will be games, food, music, and door prizes! Roan Mountain State Park ends the year's events with an old-fashioned holiday celebration at the Miller Farmstead. Step back in time and experience how Christmas was celebrated years ago, with traditional music and tasty treats. This event is free and open to the public.

The Elizabethton Carter County Chamber of Commerce will host their Annual Frasier Fir Tree Lighting. Festivities begin at 5:30pm with our traditional hot cocoa and hot apple cider provided by the Bonnie Kate Cafe. A welcome will be made by Melanie Stanton, Chamber Board President followed by a prayer given by Mr. Jonathan Perry, St. Thomas Episcopal Church. Music will be provided by Elizabeth Painter, Miss Watauga Valley, the Elizabethton High School Choral Group, and the Happy Valley Trumpeters. The lighting will take place at 6:00pm with our honorary tree "lighter", Dr. Josh Wandell and Team. A salute will be given by the Washington County Regiment of the North Carolina Militia. The Chamber would like to invite you to join us as we celebrate the start of our holiday season. The event is open and free to the public.

There are many characters from the literary works of Theodor Seuss Geisel who have inspired the love of reading in children around the world. Please join us Saturday December 6th at 6pm to celebrate in this wonderful holiday tradition. This event is free and open to the public.
